Our Academics

Here in Mrs. Ticknor's class we consistently practice daily procedures and routines. We explore Letterland for part of our literacy curriculum which also incorporates handwriting skills and techniques.  Our class masters Daily 5 as well as small guided reading groups, small strategy skill groups and Common Core standards.  We incorporate weekly themes into our lessons and teach our children how to build their character education.  We use but tweak CMAPP for our math instruction.  We differentiate, challenge and enrich children of all levels.  We also use manipulatives for a more hands on mathematics experience.  In our curriculum across the board, we model lessons, use mini lessons and use whole group instruction before breaking into small groups where I as an educator feel it is extremely meaningful to reach a child in a smaller group setting.
